Dr. Wasserman is Medical Director of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at Medical City Children’s Hospital and managing partner of Allergy Partners of North Texas. He served on the faculty of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School from 1982 to 2015.

Richard graduated from Hobart College, received a PhD in immunology from Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and an MD from Southwestern Medical School. Following training in pediatrics and a fellowship in bone marrow transplantation and immunology at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, he was a fellow at The Rockefeller University and then became Chief of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at Southwestern Medical School where he directed the Immunology Clinic for 19 years.

In 1988, Dr. Wasserman started a private practice in allergy/ immunology and  research group that has conducted more than 120 FDA approved studies.  He and is a past president and Newsletter editor of the Pediatric Society of Greater Dallas as well as a past member of the AAAAI Board of Directors and has served on the Editorial Boards of JACI:In Practice and the Annals of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. He has co-authored more than 125 peer-reviewed publications, case reports, book chapters and reviews. He is a leader in the field of treatment of food allergy with oral immunotherapy or OIT.
