FARE’s OctoberFARE gathering combined the annual Food Allergy Summit (October 31–November 1) with FARE Neighborhoods Day and Clinical Development Day, and featured a special Teal Pumpkin Project celebration on Halloween (October 31).

Participants and attendees included food allergy patients (kids, teens, and adults); food allergy families and caregivers; doctors, nurses, dietitians, psychologists, and therapists; community leaders and advocates; research scientists and practicing clinicians; and industry partners.

This year's Food Allergy Summit started on Friday, October 31, which could only mean one thing—trick-or-treating!

Families packed their costumes and came to Washington, D.C., to join in our Teal Pumpkin Halloween Bash. FARE had trick-or-treating as part of our FAREGrounds with lots of fun non-food treat options, plus candy! (And a friendly Switch Witch who helped kids swap between the two.)

More Details

FARE offered a top-9 allergen free menu for meals on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and for snacks provided at evening socials. FARE trained on-site banquet staff, managers and food service staff on allergy aware food preparation, food handling, and food service practices. A detailed list of all ingredients was provided for all food items.

FARE also provided a hospitality suite during OctoberFARE that was open to all registrants. This included several refrigerators, microwaves, cutlery, plates, cleaning supplies, and paper towels to support those who chose to bring food.
