FARE to Represent the Food Allergy Patient Voice in Upcoming FDA Expert Panel on Food Allergies

Following FARE’s Participation in FDA’s Virtual Public Meeting on Food Allergen Thresholds and Public Listening Sessions, FARE CEO Sung Poblete, PhD, RN, to Join Scientific and Clinical Experts at the FDA Expert Roundtable Event Representing the Food Allergy Patient Community

McLEAN, Va.—Feb. 23, 2026—FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education) today announced that CEO Sung Poblete, PhD, RN, has been invited to participate in the Feb. 25 U.S. Food and Drug Administration Expert Panel on Food Allergies, part of the agency’s Expert Panel Roundtable series.
These events convene independent panels of scientific experts that review the latest scientific evidence, evaluate potential health risks, and may offer recommendations for regulatory action. The Expert Panel on Food Allergies will facilitate discussion on treatments for food allergy as well as current health guidelines.

During the panel, Dr. Poblete will speak to the critical need for increased funding for food allergy research and urge prompt drug and device approvals in diagnostics and treatment for the management of existing food allergy. Her comments will also include a focus on the opportunity for food allergy prevention that early introduction of allergenic foods represents.

“As we look ahead, it’s clear that meaningful progress in food allergy will require both scientific ambition and regulatory urgency. We have powerful opportunities within reach—from accelerating innovation in diagnostics and treatments to embracing early introduction strategies that can help reduce the number of families facing this disease in the future. By strengthening investment and streamlining the path to new solutions, we can change the trajectory of food allergy for the next generation.”

The event follows FARE’s participation in FDA’s Feb. 18 Virtual Public Meeting on Food Allergen Thresholds and Their Potential Applications where FARE Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Robert Earl served as an invited panelist. FARE also participated in the agency’s Feb. 19–20 Virtual Listening Sessions on Food Allergies meeting.

Food allergy is a growing public health crisis affecting more than 33 million Americans—approximately one in 10 adults and one in 13 children in the U.S.
