Statement by Sung Poblete, RN, PhD, CEO of FARE, regarding Olive Garden’s decision to change suppliers and make its breadsticks sesame-free

“On behalf of the more than 1.6 million Americans allergic to sesame, and the more than 33 million Americans with potentially life-threatening food allergies, we applaud and thank Dan Kiernan, the President of Olive Garden, and the entire Olive Garden team for their recent decision to change suppliers and hire a baking company that doesn't add sesame flour to their breadsticks and that manufactures those breadsticks on a sesame-free processing line.

We are grateful for Olive Garden’s action and for restoring faith and trust with the food-allergic community, and we encourage other restaurants to follow Olive Garden’s lead.”
