Food Allergy Research & Education Welcomes Leigh Feuerstein and Paola Luptak to Board of Directors

FARE is pleased to announce that Leigh Feuerstein and Paola Luptak have been elected to the FARE Board of Directors.

McLEAN, Va. (June 14, 2017) – Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE), the nation’s leading nonprofit organization working on behalf of the 15 million Americans with food allergies, is pleased to announce that Leigh Feuerstein and Paola Luptak have been elected to the FARE Board of Directors.

Feuerstein is the father of a young son with food allergies and eosinophilic esophagitis. As an investor and the co-founder of Halen Brands, he has been instrumental in helping allergy-friendly food products become established on the market.

Luptak is the mother of a son with a peanut and tree nut allergy. She is a strong supporter of the University of Michigan and a benefactor of U-M’s Mary H. Weiser Food Allergy Center, creating the Nina and Jerry D. Luptak Research Professorship in the University of Michigan Medical School.

“We thank our new board members for generously sharing their commitment and expertise” said James R. Baker, Jr., MD, CEO of FARE. “Through their success in advancing products and research that benefit food allergy families, Leigh and Paola have greatly contributed to FARE’s mission to improve the quality of life and health of 15 million individuals with food allergies and to provide them hope through the promise of new treatments.”

“The FARE Board of Directors welcomes these dedicated advocates, who know firsthand that food allergies are serious and life-changing” said Board of Directors chair Janet Atwater. The individuals who serve on FARE’s Board of Directors all have personal connections to food allergy.
