Founder and president of Nourish America, a nonprofit organization that provides allergy-friendly food to people in need
Shreya Shivakumar is the founder and president of Nourish America, a nonprofit organization that provides allergy-friendly food to people in need. She began searching for ways to reduce food insecurity after volunteering at her local food pantry. Since its inception in 2018, Nourish America has held allergy-friendly food drives and fundraisers to provide over 1,100 pounds of allergy-friendly food to underprivileged communities in the Tri-state area. The youth-led organization has also hosted two annual Notes For Nourish benefit concerts to fundraise for this cause.
Shreya is also a Girl Scout Ambassador who is currently working on her Gold Award initiative called "Allergies For Kids." She has held food allergy education webinars for over 150 children across the nation to make school environments safer for children with food allergies and eliminate bullying. Shreya also creates educational resources and videos for children to learn about food allergies at home.
When she is not advocating for those living in food insecurity, Shreya can be found planning events as president of her school's Spanish Honor Society or at a mock trial practice session. In her free time, she enjoys boxing, reading Agatha Christie novels, and cooking healthy meals for her family and friends.
