Sr. Manager of Development & Advancement Operations

Development Operations and Strategy 

• Manages and oversees FARE’s fundraising technology and play the role of expert and coach on FARE’s CRM, Salesforce NPSP and other fundraising systems 
• Develops and implements practices to accurately and comprehensively track and document all donor information and activity into FARE’s CRM database, Salesforce NPSP 
• Provides strategic oversight and management of fundraising activity and performance across the organization and oversees moves management  
• Works with development and the finance teams to develop and track progress against fundraising goals 
• Works with development team members to manage and track development activities across the organization; helping identify shared prospects and develop strategies and recommendations for resolution as needed 
• Helps coordinate records throughout opportunity lifecycles by inputting donor prospects, grant opportunities, calendar milestones, contacts, and funder lists. 
• Generates relevant reports from Salesforce for Dev and Finance meetings 
• Manges budgeting and annual planning activities with Finance and Development 
• Helps operationalize and implement enterprise-wide development activities/initiatives 
• Leads team meetings to facilitate coordination of development activity across the organization while maintaining a consistent focus on goals 
• Manages development teams conference calendar and coordinates organizational presence (booth, staffing, etc), including travel to attend and staff booth as needed 
• Serves as liaison for development team with other departments to maintain efficient communications; including scheduling updates for staff to present updates to development and communicating development priorities to the rest of the organization.  
• Serves as key liaison to marketing and communications on all development communications, overseeing stewardship strategy, content including donor stories and gift recognition, and coordination of a calendar of development communications.     

Donor Stewardship 

• Leads and contributes to the ongoing design, building, and implementation of a robust and creative enterprise-wide development program that powerfully engages FARE’s prospect and donor community 
• Partners with development staff and organizational stakeholders to develop effective, customized stewardship strategies for individuals, corporations and foundations 
• Partners closely with the communications team and front-line fundraisers to produce creative and relevant content for both donor-related mass communications and individualized communications, ensuring that all tell the entire FARE story 
• Develops a deep understanding of and familiarity with FARE’s program areas so that stewardship communications reflect FARE’s programs and impact 
• Maintains familiarity with relevant stewardship best practices in the nonprofit sector 

Research and Gift Administration 

• Directs and manages FARE’s development services including research, gifts and records, and reporting; working with key stakeholders such as finance and development team members 
• Working with the development team, helps conduct and provide research on prospective donors, partners, and event attendees 
• Sets up process and procedure to wealth screen new donors and identify opportunities for cultivation 
• Coordinates prospect research to identify potential new corporate, individual and foundation donor prospects 
• Maintains donor lists for research portfolios, program initiatives, and impact / annual reports, including the maintenance of donor records and updating relationship briefs for internal staff.  

• Fundraising experience, specifically in operational support roles 
• Database management experience, and building fundraising reports 
• Strong project manager, capable of driving multiple work streams toward deadlines and juggling changing priorities 
• Able to build trust with both internal and external stakeholders across an organization 
• Effective communicator, able to craft clear, concise, and compelling written and verbal fundraising focused messages 
• Exceptional organizational, logistics and project management skills. 
• Experience creating development proposals, briefings, donor communications, and annual impact reports   
• Ability to travel, less than 20%.  

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience 
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in fundraising for a non-profit organization 
• Proficient in the use of Salesforce NPSP or equivalent CRM, familiar with fundraising technology, various MS Office programs, including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
