Food Allergy Resource Initiative
The Food Allergy Resource Initiative (FARI) is a repository of samples that are available for basic food allergy research and studies of new diagnostic tools and therapeutic strategies. FARI has been funded by FARE and maintained by The Jaffe Food Allergy Institute at The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
The following samples are currently available through FARI:
- More than 800 participants with allergy (or confirmed tolerance with positive tests)
- Representing 92 foods
- Registry includes allergy history, demographic factors
- Diagnoses based upon oral food challenge and/or convincing clinical history
- Includes samples with detectable IgE and tolerance confirmed by oral food challenge
- Repository is IRB-approved and participants have consented to sharing (anonymous)
- 85 food protein vectors from 17 allergenic foods
- Includes: egg, milk, peanut, soy, crab, lobster, shrimp, salmon, corn, almond, cashew, pistachio, hazelnut, walnut, Brazil nut and sesame
