2017 FAAW - USE

How To Get Involved

Here are 10 ways to raise awareness and inspire action during Food Allergy Awareness Week:

  1. Use social media to encourage teachers, parents and friends to get involved.
  2. Start a team for your local FARE's Food Allergy Heroes Walk and invite your friends.
  3. Ask a local sports team to add awareness messages to their jumbotron.
  4. Approach a teacher, scout troop leader, youth group leader, or couach about presenting Be a PAL: Protect A Life. This educational program can help youngsters learn how to be a good friend to kids with food allergies.
  5. Contact your local media outlets to pitch a story about food allergies. Download a template news release.
  6. Request that your state governor or a local official make a proclamation recognizing Food Allergy Awareness Week in 2017.
  7. Send out a message in your school's or office's daily announcements and newsletter.
  8. Organize a school-wide or business-wide fundraiser.
  9. Ask your favorite local business to add a donation jar at the checkout counter for Food Allergy Awareness Week.
  10. Show your spirit with #TealTakeover. Whatever way you choose to rock your teal, you'll be helping show the unity and size of the food allergy community. Tweet, Instagram or post your photos with #TealTakeover.
