- The incidence of peanut allergy among children appears to have tripled between 1997 and 2008.
- The CDC reported that food allergies result in over 300,000 ambulatory-care visits a year among children.
- Symptoms can begin within seconds of ingestion of the wrong food; death can occur within minutes.
- There is no cure; avoidance of the food allergen is the only way to prevent a reaction.
