Camp TAG
Camp TAG is a 5-day, full-day camp for ages 4-12, July 9-13, 2012. The camp will be held at Tall Pines Day Camp in Williamstown, NJ. It provides a safe place for children with food allergies and their siblings to have fun with no worries about having an allergic reaction, as well as give them an opportunity to meet other children who share the same conditions and know they are not alone!
A registered nurse who specializes in food allergies, anaphylaxis, and epinephrine administration will be onsite at all times.
Children will be grouped by ages:
- Ages 4-5
- Ages 6-7
- Ages 8-9
- Ages 10-12
Food Policy
Since Camp TAG will be a full-day camp this summer, each camper will be responsible for bringing his/her own lunch Monday - Thursday. The Tall Pines Day Camp has a peanut- and tree nut-free policy, therefore all food brought in must be free of those ingredients. Do not pack any drinks for the campers; we will provide bottled water for every camper each day. An allergy-friendly snack will be provided in the morning and again in the afternoon for every camper, along with bottled water.
Schedule
The first four days of camp will be held from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. One of the purposes of Camp TAG is to allow kids to gain independence and self-confidence; therefore, parents will not be permitted to stay with their kids each camp day. Parents will be invited to attend on Day 5, for a Family Entertainment Day, which will be from 9:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Camp TAG sponsors will have booths distributing their literature and materials. There will be games for all to enjoy, such as moon bounces, tug of war, dunk the counselor, face painting, and obstacle courses.
Camp Counselor Positions Available
Parents as well as teens ages 13-18 who either have a food allergy or who have a sibling with a food allergy, may apply to become camp counselors. There will be one counselor for 5 children with teen counselors assisting. E-mail Eleanor Garrow at egarrow@foodallergy.org to apply.
