In this webinar, we will discuss the school nurse's role and perspective in partnering with parents and schools to care for students with life-threatening food allergies.

This session will discuss the school nurse's role and perspective in partnering with parents and schools to care for students with life-threatening food allergies. The presenter will also speak on her experiences advocating for schools to stock epinephrine for unknown cases of anaphylaxis.

About the Presenter

Cathy Owens, RN, M.Ed. is Coordinator of Health Services and the Lead Credentialed School Nurse for Murrieta Valley Unified School District in California. Cathy is also a National Epinephrine Resource School Nurse, and has spoken at the FARE National Food Allergy Conference and the National School Nurse Conference on food allergies and anaphylaxis. A school nurse for over 25 years, Cathy is passionate about food allergies and student safety. She has lobbied on Capitol Hill for more support in schools for students with food allergies and helped write the state standards for training for anaphylaxis in California.
