Ingredients

3/4 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup milk-free margarine
2 cups quick oats
1 tsp. baking powder

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°. Grease 8-inch pan; set aside. In medium saucepan, over medium-low heat, combine brown sugar and margarine, stirring until margarine is melted. Remove from heat and stir in oats and baking powder. Stir until well mixed. Spread mixture evenly in prepared pan, pressing down with back of spoon. Bake 18 minutes, or until golden. The center will be soft. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bite-size squares.

Note: If you wish, stir in raisins or other dried fruit along with the oats.

My son has allergies to milk, wheat, soy, peanuts, eggs ... I was recommended Fleischmann's UNSALTED margarine. As it does not contain the same ingredients as the regular one and is ok to use for my son!

I made these with butter and added raisins and cranberries. They came out great! My next experiment is to make them with sunflower butter.

Fleischmann's is good, or if you don't have soy allergies you can use Earth Balance buttery spread (you can get it at Trader Joe's for sure or most larger supermarkets)

Earth Balance also has a soy-free buttery spread! It's a little harder to find than the other Earth Balance spreads though.
