These worked great for my son's preschool class. He is allergic to eggs and peanuts and has never had cut outs before. We had great fun making them and eating them!

Love, love, love these cookies! I am a room mom for my daughter's class. Another room mom and I decided to decorate cookies as a fun craft. There are several children in the class who have allergies. I am very happy to have found this recipe with no egg. Thank you Tyler's mom and Michi for posting your comments. I was happy to see good reviews and recent at that. I must say these are better than regular sugar cookies.

What could be used instead of sour cream? My lil man can't have dairy products.

Thanks for everyone's reviews - it gave us the confidence to try these out. My toddler has an egg allergy and still nurses, so I was excited to find a recipe we could both enjoy. This is super easy compared to traditional sugar cookies and my skeptical husband actually likes these more!

paries- you can just opt to make shortbread with earth balance instead of this recipe. i think most shortbreads will not require egg or sour cream

Toffuti has a soy sour cream that is dairy-free for anyone not able to eat dairy and not allergic to soy and it's very good. It's called Better then Sour Cream and they also have a Better than Cream Cheese too.
