Ginger Snaps

Ingredients
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
¾ cup shortening
¼ cup molasses
¼ cup applesauce
2 ¼ cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
½ tsp. ground cloves
¼ cup granulated sugar
Directions
Preheat oven to 375°. Grease cookie sheet. Set aside. In large bowl, combine brown sugar, shortening, molasses, and applesauce. Set aside. In medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and spices. Mix into brown sugar mixture until well combined. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in sugar, place on prepared cookie sheet and bake 8-10 minutes or until edges are set and tops are crackled.
