Vote for Camp TAG
The Pepsi Refresh Project awards grants totaling $1.3 million to innovative causes and organizations for projects that will be implemented in 2011. FAAN submitted Camp TAG in the Education category to be considered for a $250,000 grant. Our idea made it to the voting phase, and now we need your help!
What is Camp TAG?In 2011, FAAN will be launching Camp TAG (The Allergy Gang) for children ages 3-12. The camp is for children with food allergies and their siblings! We have designated 11 camp sites throughout the U.S. They are as follows: Joliet, Ill., Oak Brook, Ill., Minneapolis, Minn., Houston, Texas, San Francisco, Calif., Raleigh, N.C., Philadelphia, Pa., Fairfax, Va., Sandy Spring, Md., Long Island, N.Y., and North New Jersey/NYC. Camp sites are being secured and planning is well underway. FAAN is working hard to secure funding for Camp TAG and one funding source we are pursuing is through a grant from the Pepsi Refresh Project. |
Next Steps
To secure the grant, FAAN's Camp TAG project must be among the top two voted ideas when the voting closes at 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 31.
Please plan to visit www.refresheverything.com/CampTAG to vote for FAAN’s idea once per day for each day in the month of October, and encourage everyone in your personal network to do the same!
About FAAN
Founded in 1991, the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) is the world leader in information, resources, and programs for food allergy, a potentially life-threatening medical condition that afflicts as many as 15 million Americans, including almost 6 million children. A nonprofit organization based in Fairfax, Va., FAAN is dedicated to increasing public awareness of food allergy and its consequences, to educating people about the condition, and to advancing research on behalf of all those affected by it. FAAN provides information and educational resources about food allergy to patients, their families, schools, health professionals, pharmaceutical companies, the food industry, and government officials. On May 9, 2012, FAAN announced its intent to merge with the other leading food allergy organization, the Food Allergy Initiative, pending state regulatory approval.
