Texas Students to Learn About Food Allergies During Live Stream Event in Honor of Food Allergy Awareness Week

News Highlights

  • FAAW was created by the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network in 1997 to educate the public about food allergies, a potentially fatal medical condition that affects approximately 12 million people in the U.S.
  • Musician Kyle Dine will perform two of his educational shows – one for grades K to 4 and one for grades 5 to 8 – featuring his unique food allergy-themed songs. The shows will be hosted by Houston News Anchor, Dominique Sachse, and will also include a special appearance by FAAN CEO Julia Bradsher. 
  • The performance will originate in Houston and be streamed live to schools across the state of Texas using the Texas Education Telecommunications Network (TETN). Any school or school district in the State of Texas that is a member of the TETN can access the show on May 14 for free by contacting their local school, district or TETN administrator. 
  • Students will also view a public service announcement from country music star and FAAN ambassador Trace Adkins, who has taped a special message for this event.
  • FAAN has provided teachers with suggestions for interactive activities intended to educate students about food allergies.
