Marketing and Media Communications Assistant

FAAN is seeking an entry level Marketing and Media Communications Assistant to work in the Fairfax, VA office. This position works in a team environment to develop and implement marketing plans and activities, and various media communications for FAAN.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists with developing and trafficking marketing materials and communications for FAAN programs and events, such as contests, Food Allergy Awareness Week, Trick-or-Treat for Food Allergy, and the FAAN Walk for Food Allergy
  • Assists with FAAN's media-outreach efforts including writing news releases, organizing media contacts lists, and tracking clips
  • Assists with FAAN's social media efforts
  • Assists with updating FAAN's websites
  • Assists with designing materials

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Microsoft Office
  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • Website management and HTML coding
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills with an eye for detail
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent Organization skills

Education and Experience

  • Experience preferred, but not required.
  • A degree in marketing, public relations, or communications is preferred.

Working Conditions

This position may require travel and could include work in inclement weather conditions with exposure to outside environmental elements.

Physical Demands

The job requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time; ascend and descend stairs; reach and bend, and operate computers using various programs. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.

Work Schedule

While standard work hours are the normal requirement, the ability to work overtime, and/or weekends may be required from time to time.
