Janice Lieberman Joins FAAN's Mission to Raise Awareness and Educate Others About Food Allergies

FAIRFAX, Va. (May 17, 2010) – The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) is honored to announce that journalist and author Janice Lieberman will join FAAN’s cause as an Ambassador Who Cares.

Lieberman, a regular contributor to The Today Show and Reader’s Digest on consumer issues, has had a personal connection to food allergies ever since a young family member was diagnosed with a severe peanut allergy seven years ago.

“I am very concerned about food allergies and the increase we have seen in them,” said Lieberman, who hopes to not only increase awareness, but raise funds for a cure.

Through her family’s experience, Lieberman is well aware of the life-changing aspect of food allergies and the challenges of food allergy management. She is a firm believer in educating the entire community about this potentially life-threatening medical condition and has demonstrated her commitment to this cause by serving as the Honorary Chairperson for FAAN’s Walk for Food Allergy in Long Branch, N.J. on Sept. 11.

“We are proud to have Janice on board as an Ambassador Who Cares and look forward to collaborating with her on awareness initiatives,” said FAAN CEO Julia Bradsher. “Education and awareness about food allergies is sorely needed because much of the public does not truly understand food allergy.”
