The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network Names Andrew Gilman as Chairman of Board of Directors
Longtime Board Member Continues Service to FAAN
FAIRFAX, Va. (July 8, 2010) – The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) is pleased to announce that Andrew Gilman, president and CEO of CommCore Consulting Group, has been appointed Chairman of its Board of Directors.
Gilman got involved with FAAN when his son, Sam, was diagnosed with severe food allergies. He has since volunteered for many years helping FAAN with its communications efforts, particularly with media training, both for FAAN staff as well as for FAAN’s volunteer Walk chairs and support group leaders. In addition, he has assisted in crisis communications planning.
“Andy Gilman’s leadership and long-term dedication to FAAN, particularly as a father raising a son with food allergies, are tremendous assets to FAAN,” said Julia Bradsher, CEO of FAAN. “We welcome his expertise and guidance as FAAN continues to serve the needs of the food allergy community.”
Gilman, a communications strategist, crisis counselor, and author, is serving his second term on the Board of Directors. He was re-elected to the Board of Directors in 2009.
“Being part of FAAN is as rewarding as any assignment in my career,” Gilman said. “Until there’s a cure, it’s vital that organizations like FAAN help educate the public on food allergies and how to prevent life-threatening allergic reactions to food.”
Gilman was appointed as chair in April 2010. He will serve a one-year term as chair of the Board of Directors.
