Maria L. Acebal Maria L. Acebal, J.D.
Chief Executive Officer
Maria joined FAAN in November 2009. She is responsible for the strategic direction and overall management of FAAN. Maria holds a B.A. in mathematics from Duke University, and a J.D. from Yale Law School. She has a personal connection to food allergies, as one of her children has a peanut allergy.
Chris Fanning Chris Fanning, M.B.A.
Chief Financial Officer
Chris joined FAAN in August 2008. She is responsible for oversight of the financial and operational functions for FAAN. She holds a bachelor’s of business administration in accounting from Shenandoah University and an M.B.A. from the University of Maryland.
Eleanor Garrow-Majka

Vice President, Education and Outreach
Eleanor joined FAAN in September 2009. She provides leadership, development, and implementation of FAAN’s education and outreach programs. Eleanor has a B.A. in healthcare administration from Lewis University in Romeoville, IL and worked in hospital administration for 15 years prior to joining FAAN. She has a son with food allergies to tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and sesame; eosinophilic esophagitis (triggered by milk); asthma; and environmental allergies. Eleanor's daughter has no food allergies. Prior to joining FAAN, Eleanor led a food allergy support group, chaired the FAAN Walk for Food Allergy in Chicago, and advocated for Illinois legislation concerning food allergies. Eleanor is also the founder of Camp TAG (The Allergy Gang), which launched summer 2011.
Chris Weiss Chris Weiss, Ph.D.
Vice President, Advocacy and Government Relations
Chris has been with FAAN since March 2001. His duties include monitoring legislative/regulatory efforts at the local, state, and national level, designing surveys, speaking at professional meetings and conferences, and attending trade shows on FAAN’s behalf. Chris has graduate degrees from the University of Massachusetts and Florida State University.
Gina Clowes Gina Clowes
Vice President, Member Relations
Gina joined FAAN in 2012. A well-known speaker, advocate, and coach, Gina brings her passion for helping families deal with the practical and emotional toll of food allergies to FAAN through newly created membership programs, features, and benefits. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Pennsylvania State University where she studied social and behavioral science. Gina’s son was born with allergies to seven of the top eight allergens and helping families adjust to living with food allergies is her personal and professional mission.
