Adam Pascal's Connection to FAAN

Adam Pascal has devoted much of his life to his passion – music – as both a recording artist and on the Broadway stage. Now he’s using his voice for another passion that strikes a very personal note – as a FAAN Celebrity Ambassador Who Cares. Pascal, whose son Lennon is allergic to tree nuts, shellfish, kiwi, and wheat, is well aware of the everyday challenges surrounding the diagnosis of a food allergy in the family.

Together with his wife Cybele, an author whose cookbooks cater to the food allergy community, Adam is committed to raising awareness and educating others about food allergies. Each member of the family, including the Pascals’ younger son Monte, has a food allergy.

“The biggest challenge has always been to provide our children with healthy, kid-friendly foods so that they are able to enjoy all the same things their friends do,” Pascal said.

Pascal recalls when he first learned that his then 4-month-old son had severe food allergies.

“I was surprised that a food allergy could cause such a severe reaction,” he said. “But I was relieved that it was something that, with a proactive approach, could be dealt with.”

Pascal recommends newly diagnosed families educate themselves as best as they can about food allergies.

“There are simple ways to live a completely normal life … while at the same time eliminating their particular allergens,” Pascal said.

Pascal is best known for originating the role of Roger in the acclaimed Broadway musical Rent, a role he also reprised on screen.  The Tony-nominated singer and actor also originated the role of Radames in Broadway’s Aida, and appeared in Cabaret and Chess. He’s starred in numerous films and TV shows, including The School of Rock, Cold Case, and The Backyardigans. Pascal is currently touring with his band Me & Larry in support of his latest CD, Blinding Light.
