How to Join FAAN

Quick Donate

Just because a product was safe the last time you purchased it doesn’t mean the ingredients have stayed the same! It is very important to read all labels all of the time. The following food manufacturers have recently worked with FAAN to provide you with information about changes in their product.

2009

November

Nestlé USA would like you to know that Stouffer’s ® Easy Express ® Sweet Sesame Chicken has a spaghetti pasta that contains egg. This is clearly indicated on the ingredient statement, specifically in the pasta breakout part of the ingredient statement. However, “egg” does not appear in the “contains” statement that follows the ingredient statement on the label. Nestlé has stopped distribution of this product from the warehouses, and is in the process of printing labels that consistently list the food allergens in both the ingredient statement and the “contains” statement.

Nestlé urges you to read all labels for current allergen information. For more information, contact the Nestlé Consumer Services Center at 1-800-225-2270.

September

Nestlé USA would like you to know that it will be offering three "convenience kits." Nestlé ® Carnation ® Famous Fudge, Libby’s ® Pumpkin Bread, and Nestlé ® Toll House ® Chocolate Chip Cookie Kits are now available in supermarkets and club stores across the country. Each large package contains several component ingredients. Nestlé urges you to read all labels for current allergen information, which may have changed due to changes in manufacturing locations. For more information, customers may call Nestlé at (800) 854-8935.

April

Kashi® would like you to know that starting in May 2009, Kashi® TLC® Chewy Granola Bars Cherry Dark Chocolate will contain almond and peanut ingredients. The ingredient statement will include this change and also will list almond and peanut ingredients in the allergen statement. Please continue to read all labels for current allergen information. For more information, contact Kashi at (877) 747-2467.

Quaker Oats would like you to know that Quaker Instant Oatmeal - Blueberries and Cream now contains soy lecithin. The ingredient statement has been updated to include soy. Please continue to read all labels for current allergen information. For more information, contact Quaker at (800) 555-6287.

March

Kraft Foods North America, Inc., would like to notify you that beginning in early March 2009, Planters Deluxe Mixed Nuts (in 21-oz., 11.25-oz., and 10-oz. packages) will be reformulated to include macadamia nuts. The new packages for these three products will continue to include the following allergen information statement: “Manufactured on equipment that processes peanut, other tree nuts.”

Consumers are strongly encouraged to read the labels on the products before every purchase, as formulas (recipes) do change from time to time. If you have any questions, you may call the company at (877) 677-3268.
