How to Get Involved with #TealTakeover

There are lots of ways for you to get involved and show your teal spirit. However you choose to rock your teal, you’ll be helping to show the unity and size of the food allergy community. Tweet, Instagram, or post your photos with #TealTakeover and then follow along to see how everyone is participating.

How You Can Get Involved

  1. Wear teal clothing or jewelry.
  2. Hand out blue allergy-friendly treats at your workplace, dinner party, book club, or church event.
  3. Put a teal bandana or outfit on your pet.
  4. Paint your nails teal or wear teal eye shadow.
  5. Wear a teal wig, hat, scarf, or feather boa.
  6. Use teal crepe paper or ribbon to decorate your car antenna. Also add a car magnet or bumper sticker. Use washable paint markers to write on your windows.
  7. Put a teal wreath on your door.
  8. Hand out teal beaded necklaces to coworkers or students.
  9. Decorate your office, classroom, or community building with teal balloons, Mylar banner, crepe paper or other decorations.
  10. Wrap a coworker, friend, or boss’ car or desk in crepe paper.

How Businesses Can Get Involved

  1. Ask employees to wear teal or awareness lapel pins.
  2. Add a teal table cloth or flowers to your front desk.
  3. For restaurants, use teal napkins instead of white or serve a specialty awareness drink like a Teal Hawaiian instead of a Blue Hawaiian.
  4. Hand out promotional teal glow sticks.

How Schools Can Get Involved

  1. Host a fundraiser by allowing every student or staff member who donates to wear teal on a designated day. Or set a fundraising goal, and if that goal is met then the principal or teachers have to wear a teal wig or silly teal outfit.
  2. Add a teal table cloth or flowers to your front desk.
  3. Have your sports mascot or a notable statue don a teal cap, scarf, or bow.
  4. Decorate classrooms, the gymnasium, or the library with teal crepe paper, banners, or other decorations.

How Colleges and Universities Can Get Involved

  1. Have the school place food allergy awareness messages on campus TVs and news stations.
  2. Put up posters in dorms, recreational buildings, cafeterias, or classroom buildings.
  3. Appeal to Greek organizations’ philanthropy chairs to host a fundraiser or wear teal.
  4. Have your sports mascot or a notable statue don a teal cap, scarf, or bow.
  5. If you have an area that is typically painted or decorated, such as a rock or quad, color it teal!
