Trick-or-Treat for Food Allergy
For kids who have food allergies, the ghosts and goblins aren’t the scariest part of trick-or-treating – the treats are. FAAN’s Trick-or-Treat for Food Allergy lets kids join in the Halloween fun while raising food allergy awareness.
Instead of trick-or-treating for candy, kids raise funds for FAAN’s food allergy education and research programs. Last year, FAAN trick-or-treaters raised more than $17,000. Every dollar, quarter, nickel, and dime counts.
Last year’s participants will automatically receive by mail a colorful Trick-or-Treat for Food Allergy collection bag. Thanks to our sponsor, Abbott Nutrition, maker of EleCare®, anyone can participate.
If you’ve haven’t participated in the past, register to have a collection kit mailed to your home. You may order up to five kits online, or call (800) 929-4040 to request more. FAAN will start mailing kits to new registrants at the end of September. The last day to request a bag is Friday, Oct. 23.
Kids: You can win great prizes while having fun wearing your Halloween
costume! Take your collection bag to collect donations at school, and carry it door-to-door on Halloween night.
Parents and teens: Trick-or-Treat for Food Allergy isn’t just for kids! Take a collection bag to work, school, the grocery store, the post office, or even the doctor’s office. Get others involved during the months of September and October – form a group to collect donations from schools, child care centers, support groups, book clubs, scout troops, restaurants, and other businesses.
You can also encourage your family, friends, and neighbors to make a donation directly to FAAN. Remember, donations must be made online or postmarked by Nov. 15 to count toward your prize.
Don’t forget to send us pictures of yourself and friends in full costume with your Trick-or-Treat for Food Allergy bags. E-mail photos to
